Coaches Profile

Spencer McKay is a former Team Canada member and UVic Hall of Famer who brings a wealth of high-performance basketball experience to the Grand Forks camp. As UVic’s all-time leading scorer and a veteran of multiple international tournaments—including the FIBA World Championships and Pan American Games—Spencer’s career spans elite play and coaching across Europe, Asia, and North America. After a 16-year professional playing career, he transitioned into coaching, leading teams to championships in Europe and serving as an assistant coach at UBC. Now based in Penticton, he continues to develop youth through Lake City Basketball and NBN Academy, with a focus on leadership, skill development, and mentoring athletes on and off the court.

Dale Olson is a distinguished coach and retired educator from Vernon, BC, who has dedicated over three decades to developing youth through basketball. Best known for founding and leading the long-running “Hoops & Hustle” camp, Dale combines strong fundamentals with a deep passion for teaching. A former player at UVic under Hall of Fame coach Ken Shields, Dale has coached countless high school athletes and brought in university-level guest coaches to inspire the next generation. His camps emphasize discipline, skill progression, and summer development—values he’ll bring to Grand Forks this summer alongside his energy and commitment to the game.
